X2 - bookcase by Wewood

X2 is a solid wood bookcase designed to be fully customizable, allowing its width or height to be increased at any time to create additional storage compartments for books and decorative objects.

At first glance, it may appear to be a simple freestanding bookcase, but its design conceals an ingenious mechanism. X2 is actually made up of two intersecting bookcases of exactly the same size.

This clever system allows one of the two structures to be pulled out easily, doubling the available storage capacity and offering an extremely flexible solution that can be adapted to different needs.

The second bookcase does not only extend horizontally: it can also be expanded upwards, partially extended in either direction or even tilted, allowing for more dynamic and contemporary configurations. This versatility makes X2 a striking statement piece that can adapt to both functional requirements and aesthetic preferences.

The structure is made from two equally sized blocks, each composed of 48 carefully arranged wooden slats. These work together with solid brass screws that enable the movement of the two blocks, ensuring smooth operation and stability. The precision of its construction provides both strength and flexibility, while the combination of solid wood and brass gives the piece a timeless character.
